It’s called kinematics. The motion of objects in classical mechanics (as opposed to quantum mechanics). Kinematics lets us determine how long it will take to go 100 miles traveling at 55 MPH. It lets us determine the average speed we were traveling at if we know the distance and time of the trip. It will also tell us how fast the ball will be traveling when it hits the windshield but it will not tell us whether or not the windshield is going to break. That’s called empirical evidence.
